Emotions are a gift.

Many people suffer from fear of experiencing their emotions–especially heavy, stressful and uncomfortable emotions. Most of us are taught as children to “behave”– to stop expressing true feelings that are expressed through tantrums, meltdowns and moments of panic. As the years go on, this mis-guided message repeats, and people are naturally taught to either bottle up their feelings, avoid them completely or have very little coping and management skills for when they do come up. The act of natural feelings being shut down is a traumatic experience. It goes against our human nature, which is to ebb and flow through the experience of vast emotion.

Within our energy field, the sacral chakra, located at the lower abdominal region, is the center which perceives, interprets and expresses all emotions. When our sacral chakra is flowing smoothly, we are capable of experiencing any emotion that comes our way, to sit with it, find motivation to creatively deal with the emotion and move on. Sometimes dealing with the emotion simply means to allow it to dissolve. Sometimes dealing with the emotion is brainstorming creative solutions that assists with relieving the difficult emotion, such as in circumstances of justifiable anger.

The emotions we feel are signals our body is sending to our mind and soul. Emotions are important messengers that aid in daily decision making. Emotions connect us to our intuitive and gut instincts, and allow us the opportunity to understand ourselves on a deeper level. Each emotion is special in its own way, not “right” or “wrong” or deserving of harsh judgement.

Reiki can help smooth out the sacral chakra center flow, can help with dealing and accepting all emotions, and can gently encourage working through all emotions, especially the very difficult ones such as grief, guilt, shame, jealousy, resentment, anger and others. These uncomfortable feelings are a catalyst towards transformation and healing, and are an invisible gift we give ourselves.
